Almost in Canada

Our 300 miles today found us in Plattsburgh, NY. Another sunny day, in the 60's, but still pretty windy. We left Jake's and headed through Syracuse then turned north up to Watertown and Alexandria Bay on the St. Lawrence River....along the river through Ogdensburg and Massena. (Oh yes, we stopped at Wegman's in Canandaigua for provisions - one of the nation's greatest supermarkets - we knew of them when we lived there...picked up 3 bottles of Alameda's State Fair Spiedie Sauce!). The St. Lawrence is the East's equivalent to the Columbia River....lots of history here. We passed through the Akwesasne/St. Regis  Indian Reservation (one of the Mohawk tribes), complete with new, fancy casino, and a very large wind farm near Malone. We found I-87 right at the Canadian Border at Champlain.

Although Linda's Seminary buddy Sally wasn't able to meet us, we found her little church in Mooers, NY (love that name!). There are some wonderful old churches in these little towns!
