Minneapolis, MN

Headed down I-94, lots of small lakes and ponds (Land of 10,000 Lakes, you know); took a little side trip over to Little Falls. There's a dam there which was used to create a log holding area on the upper reaches of the Mississippi River; and a beautiful old Catholic Church. Then back on I-94 at St. Cloud and on down to Minneapolis/Bloomington.

Its OK to be jealous, girls, but we went to the Mall of America! We stayed at a hotel close by which has regular shuttle service over to The Mall. This mall looks just like any other mall except for two things: there are 520 Stores on 3 levels and more than 20 restaurants; right in the middle is a huge amusement park full of "make-you-sick" rides, just like the state fair!

We both agreed that when you come into Minnesota it's obvious that you are no longer in the West. The landscape is rather boring and drab, lots more traffic and lousy roads. All the retail stuff is the same familiar names you'll see anywhere. My silent reaction was "get me out of here!" But we'll charge ahead......over to Green Bay tomorrow.
