Fort Peck Dam, Williston Oil Fields, Roosevelt NP

Started out under bright sunny skies over to Fort Peck Dam, the largest single WPA project from the New Deal. Its the largest earthen dam in the WORLD! The resultant Fort Peck Lake is the fifth largest reservoir in the country. Then across northern Montana into North Dakota on US Rt 2 into the Williston/Watford City. Yikes! This is the epicenter/ground zero of the Baakan/Oil and Gas area. Unbelievable construction, drilling, man-camps.......I wished someone could have been with us to explain all the odd equipment. It looks very complicated! Then headed south to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the Badlands. Great hotel in Medora called "Rough Riders Hotel" and wonderful dinner at The Boots Bar and Grill.
